Dutch Oven Dinner Recipes:  Baked Cinnamon Apples

MATERIALS NEEDED:

14 inch Dutch oven.

Paring knife.

This is an easy dessert item that is popular with scouts and adults alike.

INGREDIENTS:
Your favorite type of apple. (I like braeburn)

Ground Cinnamon

2 cups of Sugar

Raisons

Butter (or margarine) 2 sticks.

Water, 1 cup (or replace with 1 cup of apple juice)

INSTRUCTIONS:
Mix two tablespoons of ground cinnamon with the 2 cups of sugar. (or to your own desired taste)

Wash and then core the apples with the paring knife, completely cutting out the seed core. Pour the water (or apple juice) into the bottom of the Dutch oven. Place the apples evenly (touching one another) in the bottom of the Dutch oven. Place raisons inside each cored apple, and pour cinnamon sugar into the core.

Put a little butter into the top of each core.

Place the covered Dutch oven on the coals, heating to about 400 degrees, until apples are baked (nice and soft).

Serve in a bowl (great with ice cream).

VARIATIONS:

Use brown sugar instead of/or in additions to table sugar.

Use Red-Hot candies instead of/or in additions to the raisons.
