Death Notices: Atlanta Journal Constitution, May 20, 2002

Mr. Roy I. Shiver, 87, of Covington, died May 19, 2002 at Covington Manor. He was born on July 23, 1914 in McCullough, AL, to the late Francis Marion and Clara McKinsey Shiver and was the widower of the late Edna Glaze Shiver. Formerly of Stone Mountain, Mr. Shiver retired from Raymond International and was a member of Porterdale Baptist Church where he was a deacon. He was a longtime member of Carpenters Local Union #225 and past Master of Pace Masonic Lodge. Mr. Shiver was a loving father and husband. He is survived by daughter, Anne Shiver, Atlanta; sons and daughters in-law, W. Joe and Dorothy Shiver, Rome; David and Janet Shiver, Tucker; daughter in-law, Daisy Shiver, Covington; sisters, Margaret Carlisle and Frances Yonce, both of Fairhope, AL; brother, Henry Shiver, Foley, AL; 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at Porterdale Baptist Church on Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at 4:00 P.M. with Rev. Dickie Johnson, Rev. J.S. Brown, and Rev. Bill Cagle, officiating. Interment will be at Lawnwood Memorial Park in Covington. The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. Caldwell & Cowan, Covington, GA.
